Habitat for Humanity Zambia (HFHZ) is part of a world-wide non-profit, ecumenical Christian housing ministry focused on eliminating poverty by providing simple, decent houses with families in need and to make shelter a matter of conscience and action. Habitat for Humanity Zambia now invites applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill the vacant position of Resource Mobilization Officer – Grants. The specifications of the position are as follows:

Reports to: Resource Development & Communications Manager
The successful candidate will mobilize resources for Habitat for Humanity Zambia (HFH Zambia) through grants or Request for Proposals. He/she will support the identification of opportunities for generating new resources and new donor partnerships for HFH Zambia, and expanding the grant development and fundraising portfolio. He/she will also provide support in the continuous incorporation of quality standards, and compliance with donor requirements, in the design of new proposed program initiatives of HFH Zambia.
Key areas of responsibility
  • In conjunction with the Resource Development & Communications Manager develop a donor mapping system
  • Under the supervision of the Resource Development & Communications Manager write National and International grants and funding proposals
  • Working with the Resource Development & Communications, open opportunities for funding at a national and/or International funding level guided by the supervisor
  • Identify and develop funding opportunities for HFH Zambia to develop into a donor country of choice in Zambia
  • Willing to make public presentations on behalf of Habitat for Humanity Zambia when requested to do so
  • Identify, collect, consolidate, disseminate and regularly update information on donors and their priorities, and on the status of the proposals submitted by HFH Zambia on a monthly basis to the Resource Development  and Communications Manager
  • Provide support in the completeness and quality of the final documents of the proposals and reports
  • Consolidate and coordinate the compilation of program proposals and reports
  • In conjunction with the Resource Development & Communications Manager, provide support in the development and implementation of a national fund raising strategy and implementation plan
  • Establish and maintain communication with key personnel of CI and other COs, and donor agencies, to design proposals
  • Analyse documents / material on calls for proposals and program opportunities, and provide relevant information to the Senior Leadership Team for decision
  • Assist in the development of strategic planning and organizational analysis
  • Participate in internal meetings
  • Any other duties assigned by supervisor

Knowledge (Education & Related Experience):
  • A minimum of a  Bachelor’s degree in the relevant field;
  • Two to three years of work experience in Grant Resource Mobilisation and donor relations;
  • Documented successes in successful grant proposals awarded;
  • Demonstrated professional commitment to human and community development
  • English language fluency; and,
  • A Clean driving Licence
  • Work experience in an NGO environment will be an added advantage
