Job Title: Social Behavioral Change Communication (SBCC) Specialist

Position Description
Plan is seeking applicants for the position of Social Behavioral Change Communication (SBCC) Specialist on theUSAID-funded Zambia Community HIV Prevention project. He/she will represent Plan International on this consortium; reporting directly to the project’s HIV Prevention Advisor with a dual reporting line to Plan’s Program & Strategy Manager. In his/her position, the SBCC Specialist will also have a dotted reporting line to the Program Manager, Plan USNO.
Responsibilities
- Develop the Z-CHPP SBCC strategy for reaching priority population
- Develop/design health promotion strategies that support evidence-based messaging and community-based behavioral change interventions
- Provide technical assistance to ZCHPP local sub-partners to enhance and scale up community-led outreach activities
- Ensure Plan’s Child Centered Community Development and child protection principles are fulfilled during project implementation, monitoring and evaluation, and reporting.
- Ensure that SBCC approach is integrated into all areas of the project including implementation.
- Contribute to the project’s documentation on success stories, best practices, etc.
- Keep track of the developments and continued review of ZCHPP and national policies in the area of on SBCC
- Ensure the SBCC component design, implementation, monitoring, evaluation, and reporting are aligned to ZCHPP’s Project objectives and expected results.
- Contribute to the development of SBCC indicators and oversee the inclusion of gender-disaggregated data in the project’s M&E framework
- Support project evaluations and ensures that reporting of project activities are done in a proper and timely manner
- Develop/contribute to project documentation and reporting requirements such as work plans, quarterly report, success stories, etc.
- Build the capacity of local partners to implement/roll out evidence-based SBCC activities and reach target audiences
- Support and train community led SBCC interventions such as community dialogues, community theater groups, change agents and school health club
- Raise children’s right /protection awareness within Plan and amongst partners and community members
Key Qualifications and Skills
- Degree in Development studies/Social sciences or related discipline.
- A Master’s Degree or higher will be an added advantage
- 10-15 years working experience in the above fields.
- Extensive experience in information education communication and targeting to ensure that appropriate messaging reaches the appropriate audiences.
- Extensive experience in the implementing community mobilization activities such as the community dialogues, participatory theater education, and the Stepping Stones training package on gender communication and HIV.
- Strong knowledge of effective social behavior change communication and health promotion strategies and participatory approaches
- Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary and multicultural environment.
- Excellent networking and partnership skills
- Excellent grasp of programming concepts specifically in SBCC
- Proven leadership, interpersonal skills and cross-cultural skills; and ability to build and motivate diverse teams
