Resident assignments are generally for one year and are likely to be renewed.
Qualifications: Applicants should have minimum of 10 to 15 years of experience in domestic government debt issuance and/or management of public borrowing. A background in public finance, private sector investment banking, public sector financial advisory work, government securities trading, state and local government securities underwriting, issuance and sales, securities and/or Treasury operations, or in related areas, would constitute relevant experience. Knowledge of international bond markets is desirable.
Prior overseas work experience in a challenging environment and management experience are also highly desirable. French fluency is required for francophone countries, including Algeria and Guinea postings. While having requisite technical skills and a background in and knowledge of public finance/government securities are highly important, candidates must also have the desire and ability to work independently and the ability to gain the confidence of host government officials and counsel them about policy choices and their consequences.
