The Project Manager will work closely with the Executive Director, the volunteers and teachers employed at the centre and where necessary, the board and external specialists. The Project Manager will be accountable to the Executive Director for overall leadership, management and performance of the Sunshine Zambia Project.
Responsibilities include:
Staff Management
  1. Management and supervision of all staff employed by the centre. This includes approval of various activities, supporting them, working with them, monitoring their performance and being aware that the members needs take precedence over all else. The centre, led by the manager, must portray a positive image at all times.
  2. Recruit volunteers and ensure they are appropriate and will benefit the members.
  3. With the teacher, devise an appropriate points system.
  4. Close liaison to be maintained with the teachers.
Project Implementation
  1. The manager will be responsible for the implementation of all activities and for the procurement of the necessary materials, being aware at all times that products must be sellable.
  2. Support of all fundraising activities planned by the organisation.
  3. Maintaining a close relationship with member’s families and care-givers.
  4. The project manager is the public face of the project and needs to create and maintain a positive image of the project. Public relations and awareness are key components of this position.
  5. When necessary, develop materials, e.g. brochures, fliers, advertising material, and arrange printing of these with the approval of the board and the Executive Director.
  6. The teacher will compile reports on educational matters for Board Meetings and assist with information necessary for inclusion in Newsletters compiled by the Executive Director.
  7. Manage an update of the Sunshine Zambia Project Facebook page.
Finance and Administration
  1. Awareness of the necessity of running the project within the budget and for sourcing new, viable and lucrative activities and contracts.
  2. The manager is responsible for all money at the centre, keeping the records as required by the organisation’s systems.
  3. Meticulous records to be kept of all communication with donors, care-givers and fundraising activities.
  4. Maintenance of an asset register.
  5. Control of admissions and recruitment of new members.
  6. Stock control and purchasing.
  7. Organize activity rosters with the teacher.
