SALARY: Ordinarily Resident (OR): FSN- 13 (Starting salary
ZK 541,237.14 p.a.);
Not-Ordinarily Resident (NOR): Base Schedule FP-02 (Starting
salary $ 83,173)
*Final grade/step for NORs will be determined by Washington.

The U.S. Mission in Zambia is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the position of Branch
Chief – Care, Treatment and Prevention.

BASIC FUNCTION OF POSITION
Under the leadership of the CDC Director and Associate Director for Science, incumbent provides
technical oversight and guidance in the implementation of CDC funded activities in relation to Care,
Treatment and Prevention in Zambia. Responsibilities include direct supervision of the specialists in
the Care, Treatment and Prevention Branch to ensure that the planned activities are carried out in a
timely manner, either directly by CDC or through CDC's implementing partners in Zambia.
Coordinates
clinical care, treatment and prevention activities with the CDC Senior Management Team, including
Program Management and other Branches to ensure that program implementation is effective and
activities adhere to best practices.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED
Applicants must address each required qualification listed below with specific and comprehensive
information supporting each item. Failure to do so may result in a determination that the applicant is
not qualified.

1. EDUCATION: Post-graduate degree in medicine with a valid license to practice medicine in
Zambia is required. A postgraduate degree in public health and/or tropical medicine is also
required.
2. EXPERIENCE: A combination of at least eight (8) years of medical practice, research or
teaching in the area of HIV/AIDS, Tuberculosis, or Sexually Transmitted Infections is required.
3. LANGUAGE: Level IV (fluent) English and Level III (good working knowledge) of one or
more indigenous languages spoken in Zambia is required. English Language proficiency will be
tested.
4. SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Excellent written and oral communication is required.
5. JOB KNOWLEDGE: Demonstrated clinical knowledge and expertise in the area of HIV/AIDS
care, treatment and prevention is required.

SELECTION PROCESS: When qualified, applicants who are U.S. Citizen Eligible Family Members

1. Management may consider the following when determining successful candidacy: nepotism,
conflicts of interest, budget, and residency status.
2. Current OR employees serving a probationary period are not eligible to apply. Current OR
employees with an Overall Summary Rating of Needs Improvement or Unsatisfactory on their most
recent Employee Performance Report (EPR) are not eligible to apply.
3. Current NOR employees hired on a Family Member Appointment (FMA) or a Personal Service
Agreement (PSA) are not eligible to apply within the first 90 calendar days of their employment,
unless they have a When Actually Employed (WAE) work schedule.
4. The candidate must be able to obtain and hold a background security clearance.
