Job Title: Business Development and Marketing Manager
Reports to: Managing Director
iDE Zambia is incubating a small agricultural start-up (separate business entity) with the vision to bring markets to smallholder farmers through an accessible ICT platform.  This start-up is recruiting an experienced, outgoing Business Development and Marketing Manager. The candidate will have ample experience in marketing in the agriculture sector in Southern Africa, preferably Zambia itself, and plenty of experience marketing products to low-income, hard-to-reach customers. As a key member of the business start-up team, the BDM Manager will also lead in the development and roll out of a fitting branding strategy, as well as lead business development among commercial clients. Job Duties
  • Evolve and lead the business marketing strategy across diverse levels of target clients (smallholder farmers, small and medium sized agricultural enterprises, large agriculture companies, etc.);
  • Responsible for setting and driving sales targets with commercial clients and in line with business revenue targets, and for reporting against those targets;
  • Support regular reviews of the business plan and growth strategies and projections;
  • Responsible for catalysing product innovations and new business, including recruitment of investors;
  • Support in identifying, recruiting and managing new investors;
  • Responsible for achieving marketing outputs within approved budget and timeframe;
  • Responsible for marketing/training events, including planning and organizing system and product launch marketing events;
  • Lead in the development and roll out of a branding strategy.
  • University degree in marketing or related topic;
  • At least 5 years of business development/marketing experience;
  • Experience with ICT innovations preferred;
  • Experience in marketing in the agriculture sector; experience in reaching target clients and smallholder agricultural sector in Zambia;
  • Ability to think innovatively and translate opportunities into tangible business;
  • Highly proficient in using MS Office suite and other design and marketing software (such as Adobe);
  • Proficiency in Nyanja and/or Bemba required.
