Commercial Manager, Zambia
This role is responsible for leading the development and implementation of an integrated country strategy to deliver Monsanto’s commercial, branding, and social goals. The role is also responsible for managing the strategic and tactical operations of the country sales teams and ensuring the delivery of key commercial targets including revenue, profitability, and market share goals.
Key responsibilities:
- Develop and implement the strategic growth and operational plan for the local market to achieve overall brand, revenue and volume market share goals in the country.
- Deliver financial targets for both seeds and crop protection business (net sales, gross profit, SG&A, EBIT, and free cash flow) and ensure collection of receivables. Implement an effective credit management strategy to support sustainable growth of the business.
- Lead and take accountability for business planning, forecasting, and budgeting processes.
- Lead a multifunctional team in developing and executing appropriate go to market approaches to achieve complementary commercial and social goals.
- Attract, develop, manage, lead, and inspire the sales team to ensure consistent high performance in the team, growth and retention of high potential talent, and succession planning for key leadership and high impact roles.
- Build effective relationships and partnerships with enabling functions and commercial teams in the Eastern Africa region and the wider Africa region to ensure collaboration and leveraging of Monsanto’s global capabilities.
- Lead implementation of Monsanto’s long term strategy and budget objectives.
- Serve as the custodian of company policies and lead in ensuring compliance to all business and ESH/OSHA related risk management measures.
- Provide data-driven competitive and market information (competition actions, market trends, product performance/satisfaction levels, commercial acceptance and regulatory issues) to Africa Management.
- Build, maintain, and leverage relationships with key external stakeholders including regulators, distribution partners, social partners, and seed industry associations.
Qualifications
Education qualifications:
- Minimum of an undergraduate degree in business or agriculture.
- Masters degree in a business related field is an added advantage.
Experience:
- Minimum of 10 years experience in commercial sales with significant direct sales and team management experience. Experience in the agriculture sector is desirable.
- At least 4 years in management, 2 of which should have been in general management roles.
