Treasury RMP Sales Dealer – Barclays Bank Zambia

To implement the Treasury Sales business strategy according to the Head of Treasury Sales and the Barclays Africa Treasury Sales Strategy and Policies & Procedures, and in line with Group Values.
Main accountabilities and approximate time split

Key actions to include:
• Under the guidance of the Head of Treasury Sales, actively participating in the implementation of the Treasury Sales Strategy in line with the Barclays Africa Treasury Sales Strategy and country sales requirements, with the core focus of becoming the preferred point of contact both externally and internally for Risk Management Product (RMP) sales activities
• Contributing to the drafting of the RMP component of the  Treasury Sales Strategy
• Working closely with the Head of Treasury Sales to implement the Risk Management Products (RMP’s) roll out in country, which includes:
o Assist the NPA champion in ensuring that NPA approvals are obtained for markets product
o  Looking for opportunities to present RMP’s to clients
o Closing RMP deals

• Becoming the bridge for Government, Corporate clients and the general market place for derivative products, strategies and structured solutions

• Prospecting RMP opportunities and developing the RMP proposition which includes:
o Defining the business opportunities in the RMP space
o Promoting the expansion and penetration of the RMP portfolio to customers whilst growing the client base
o Ensuring the origination and closure of RMP transactions whilst maintaining ongoing contact with RMP customers
o Being responsible for the end-to-end process for all RMP deals
o Liaising with all internal stakeholders to ensure full compliance with all Barclays policies and procedures
o Establishing and maintaining regular dialogue with the Corporate Bank relationship managers
o Meeting the defined volume and profitability targets as set for RMP’s
o Regular contact with principle Relationship Manager
• Managing one’s allocated client portfolio and support the team in the management of the other client portfolios where needed
• Under the direction of the Head of Treasury Sales achieving a leading position in the chosen products, markets and segments by:
o Spending at least 50% of one’s time meeting with existing and identified new clients
o Giving superior customer service
o Presenting the full Barclays product set to clients whilst managing the product portfolio to suit client needs
o Undertaking customer visits and joint customer visits with Corporate
o Actively participating in client events with Absa Capital Economics unit and Corporate, including training and  seminars, and Entertaining clients as permitted under the bank and group compliance policies
• Managing one’s client portfolio to generate strong growth and sustainable returns over the business cycle with special focus on Customer Service and Financial Performance
• Ensure that Counterparty credit limits are not exceeded
• Assisting the Head of treasury sales in achieving strategic and tactical objectives

Reporting                                                                                                                                                                          5%
Key actions to include:
• Providing weekly reporting on client growth, volume and profitability in one’s own portfolio
• Providing detailed Management Information to the Head of Treasury Sales on the composition, performance and profitability of the client portfolios on a monthly basis
• Assisting the Head of Treasury Sales with any ad-hoc reporting requests

Risk Management                                                                                                                                                 10%
Key actions to include:
• Maintaining a strong compliance culture
• Adhering to all the policies and procedures of the bank
• Ensuring that all deals are dealt within dealer limits (market risk limits, counterparty limits, dealer’s mandate)
• Ensuring high quality of service to all clients (reputational risk)

Personal Development                                                                                                                                             5%

Key actions to include:
• Actively managing one’s own technical and soft skills development in conjunction with the Head of Treasury Sales
• Researching, identifying and proposing training solutions for own development to the Head of Treasury Sales
• Perform all other duties as reasonably assigned.

Essential/Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree
• ACI Dealing Certificate
• 2-3 years experience related experience


 Knowledge of bank products, services and/or other specialist knowledge


• Knowledge of Treasury products
• Knowledge of Sales Techniques
• Understanding of interest rate and foreign exchange markets
• Understanding of interest rate risk, foreign exchange risk and credit risk
• Understanding of the policies, procedures and ethical requirements of a Treasury environment
• Understanding of treasury back office operations
• Excel competency
• Communication skills
Preferred Qualifications 

• Understanding of the mathematics of pricing for FX and Money Markets
• Understanding of political and economic activity and the impacts on exchange rates and interest rates
