Is in third year of training and will have passed final qualifying exams for ZICA/ ACCA or equivalent.
Alternatively is a non-graduate who operates at a similar level.
Is fully capable of fulfilling all requirements of Audit Senior/ Intermediate role. Shows an awareness of the role of a supervisor.

Main duties and responsibilities

Technical performance

Prepares reports, documentation and correspondence under superior’s supervision.
Keeps up-to-date with latest accounting and auditing developments.
Consults with superior on issues identified and researches these.
Identifies statutory and regulatory changes that will affect own clients.
Reviews management letter points of junior staff and drafts paragraphs for letters with minimum supervision.
Demonstrates a good understanding of the firm’s audit approach and is able to assist junior staff in understanding the theory behind the approach.
Demonstrates a basic understanding of tax issues and how these impact upon clients.

Customer focus

Establishes close working relationship with client; understands the main issues.
Maintains regular contact with accounting staff during the assignment.
Internal value

Draws up plans and timetables for assignments.
Monitors own and team performance against time allocations and reports difficulties.
Acts as supervisor on small to medium assignments.
Reviews junior staff work.
Produces a largely complete ‘end product’ with a list of outstanding issues to be addressed at a clearance meeting.
Handles a small number of assignments at the same time.
Drafts audit planning brief for own assignments which address relevant issues.

Management of people

Manages all staff on the assignment including the manager and partner, organises reviews and clearance meetings etc.
Provides leadership and guidance to junior staff.
Plans allocation of work to team on assignment.
Planning the business
Suggests ideas for improvement of next year’s assignment.
Personal development

Sets a good example to junior staff.
Develops peer contacts across firm.
Develops contacts within firm in other divisions.
Identifies appropriate objectives.
Exam preparation

Passes (or is expected to pass) PCE II exams at first attempt.
